  Saturn

Saturn is the next largest planet in the solar system and its functions are for the most part less well known to us than those of the other planets. Saturn is the strange but just teacher. To be able to function, as part of this world mankind must adapt to certain of heaven and earth's laws. Saturn reveals the obligation we have that must be completed to build up character. This duty in the Hindu belief system is dharma.

Saturn's astrological function is also to bridge between the material and higher consciousness. When the farthest planets were discovered in modern time they fitted well into the older astrological system. These planets stand for parts of the higher consciousness achieved with difficulty.

In certain astrological texts Saturn is called "the bearer of great misfortune". The reason for this is that Saturn can deprive a person of those things in life that are built on illusion and falsehood towards ones self. Saturn sees to it that we gain what we deserve.
