  The Moon

The Moon is the Suns opposite, while the Sun stands for a persons identity and spirit so the Moon stands for the subconscious aspects of the personality and soul. The Moon is associated with feelings, instincts and receptivity. Receptive, in the same way that the Moon absorbs sunlight. The Sun is the day and the moon is the night, their functions complement each other.

In the birth horoscope it is important that the Sun and the Moon have a harmonic relationship to each other so as to allow feelings and volition to work together. The faculties of perception and judgment of our experiences are connected to the Moon; there is a direct relationship between humor and the senses.

Our sense of Security is an important association and this partly due to our perception of the Moon as an important protective mother symbol, as well as the protection of the night. Motherliness is not just the mothers but is also the protective motherly instinct we all bear within.

With the Sun too strong and a weak Moon in the horoscope this can mean difficulty for someone in balancing personal desires with their surroundings. He or she can have a problem with cooperating with others and can appear for example to be dominant. If on the other hand the Moon is strong and the Sun is week means this person gaining many chances in life and many friends, but he or she will lack the energy needed to take advantage of their situation.
